GENERAL QUESTIONS:
Where are sessions held? I am a traveling photographer that shoots exclusively outdoors. I am happy to travel to family homes, local parks, or adventure locations both domestic and international. Please inquire for current travel fees outside the greater Charlotte area.
When do I need to book? As soon as possible. I take a very limited number of sessions per month. If you know you want me to be your photographer, we need to get you on my calendar.
Can family and siblings be included? Absolutely. Pets are welcomed as well. Family, sibling, and pet portraits are always done first and then it is recommended that pets and the other children return home as I complete the second part of the session focusing on the baby.
Do you offer other types of sessions: family, milestones, boudoir? My first priorities are to maternity, birth, and newborn sessions. If you are looking for something outside these session categories you may inquire to schedule the month of but there is no guarantee of availability.
When do I see my photos? About 7-10 days after your session I will be able to send you an online gallery of your photos for you to place an order. The gallery will be active for 2 weeks.
What are the copyright, release, and terms policies? As the artist, I own the copyrights to the photographs. High resolution digital files are available on a personal print release allowing you to print, distribute, and display. You may not sell, edit, or use any of the images for commercial use. As a visual artist, it is imperative that I show my latest and best works to potential clients. With the release included in the service agreement, you are allowing me to use your images in all forms of marketing and display without limitation. An Exclusion of Use Clause is available for purchase.
NEWBORN SPECIFIC QUESTIONS:
What if my baby is already born? Simply inquire. I may have an opening. I maintain a fluid calendar to accommodate different due dates so I usually don’t know what I’m photographing until a week or two prior.
Is my baby too old? I like to photograph newborns between 6 – 15 days of life. There is an adjusted age window for those that have been born early or needed to stay in the hospital longer than the standard length. However, I have photographed babies one month old that have been no different.
What if it rains or other poor weather (wind, cold, etc)? When working with newborns it is important to remain flexible. That is the same case here. We will carefully plan your session date once baby has arrived and then if the weather shifts, we will first look at rescheduling within a day or two. If the weather sticks around, I have a garden studio available to use that we can move our session inside or we may find a local greenhouse to keep the botanical aesthetic. Do keep in mind that I have ample experience, props, outfits, and accessories to help adjust to the weather. Your baby’s safety has always been my top priority so I will make decisions based on what is best for the baby.
MATERNITY SPECIFIC QUESTIONS:
Do you have maternity gowns? Yes! I have a small client closet available. If you wish to use a gown we will need to schedule a fitting before your session to choose the best option. You can view all the gowns HERE.
When is the best time to photograph my pregnancy? Between 32-35 weeks is generally a good time but each pregnancy is different and we can capture this time for you as early as you would like. I do recommend before the final month just in the event you go into labor early, we don’t want to miss the opportunity.
BIRTH SPECIFIC QUESTIONS:
Do you have a time limit in case I have a long delivery? No. I’ve been to births ranging from 3 hours to 3 days. My goal is to document your entire story regardless of the length.
What if I have a home birth and need to transfer to hospital? It is just a part of your birth story and I will follow. There may be certain hospital policies that I must abide by but I will still do what I can.
What if I have a cesarean? If I am with you when that decision is made, I will document up until you leave and then document once you are out. If I am able to come with you I will but the usual policy is only one support person in the operating room.
What if you miss the birth? There is so much more to the story than the physical emergence of the baby but each birth is taken on a case-by-case basis. Therefore, it would need to happen for us to discuss how to handle it to make sure we both feel the end results are fair.
